Typography plays a big role in graphic design and can be one of the hardest things to get right. My aim here is to introduce some of the basics and the most common areas of typography that will be important in your design work.Taylor Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08651707804294698676noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7740073935011284363.post-19428259903892179612011-08-22T19:34:00.000-07:002011-08-22T19:34:34.124-07:00<object width="420" height="345"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DCWloOrUm9E?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DCWloOrUm9E?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="345" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object><br />

Typography is the art and technique of arranging type. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning). Type design is a closely related craft, which some consider distinct and others a part of typography; most typographers do not design typefaces, and some type designers do not consider themselves typographers.Taylor Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08651707804294698676noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7740073935011284363.post-88933404883004828332011-08-22T19:13:00.000-07:002011-08-22T19:13:39.533-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj1UvrNmw7Lao_5r8iRcAlgkmb5Kd0DFNlgvWE7eFmijIjgOsmS5buIxhiY0CODIEtuCa2O6S9apXXSOKJ1sTwCEY-f_yz_Lqqw-cLPpVm0uHFCRbkEfk33uP_Elm67TIER3b06ep0CXsB/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj1UvrNmw7Lao_5r8iRcAlgkmb5Kd0DFNlgvWE7eFmijIjgOsmS5buIxhiY0CODIEtuCa2O6S9apXXSOKJ1sTwCEY-f_yz_Lqqw-cLPpVm0uHFCRbkEfk33uP_Elm67TIER3b06ep0CXsB/s320/2.jpg" width="226" /></a></div><br />

It’s an art form in itself that combines carefully chosen and arranged fonts with visual elements, sometimes as a relatively straightforward communication device and sometimes as artistic expression. </span>Taylor Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08651707804294698676noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7740073935011284363.post-70018212463320623002011-08-22T19:10:00.000-07:002011-08-22T19:10:53.182-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />

Arranging text to form shapes and structures is very very hard thing to do, but the final results if you are good at it are mind blowing. Just like the images gathered above.</span>Taylor Smithhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08651707804294698676noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7740073935011284363.post-4530512253850775512011-08-22T19:07:00.000-07:002011-08-22T19:07:20.756-07:00Typography Portrait<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1ypfwPU6QrOncGkiArwwQfhBaRXDfmXsqgSkviLqh7YpPzBijqJ_g_05SO1p4yXXg5QrzN4IxgAdwxxEVLAAQZ35rOXy7mGZLvAcaGrjHuXciz0-UkgvDo7ChdCY8dIWH58xfYhKPqmUo/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1ypfwPU6QrOncGkiArwwQfhBaRXDfmXsqgSkviLqh7YpPzBijqJ_g_05SO1p4yXXg5QrzN4IxgAdwxxEVLAAQZ35rOXy7mGZLvAcaGrjHuXciz0-UkgvDo7ChdCY8dIWH58xfYhKPqmUo/s320/3.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #404343; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 21px;">Typography has been part of designing. Hence, there are people who make use of it in a truly artistic way not just considering aesthetics but also making sure that an important message is being conveyed. No doubt, typography as an art is effective and is also appealing to the audience.
